Description
Phono Box Ultra 500 leads with its polished chrome-plated copper housing. Copper in particular is known for it’s protective properties against high-frequency interference, thus taking the S2 Series’ existing aluminum/steel chassis design to the next level. However, this is only the beginning. A fully discrete, Op-Amp-free design fosters sonics rarely found in this class. On top of omitting Op-Amps, the selected polystyrene capacitors (known among audiophiles as the ‘holy grail’ for phono preamplifiers) significantly contribute to Ultra 500’s vivid, convincing sound. With wide-ranging flexibility in gain, load & capacitance, it can handle with grace almost any cartridge you throw at it.
Limited Edition
Phono Box Ultra 500 commemorates Pro-Ject’s 500,000th phono preamp shipped. Not coincidentally, it was made in a limited production run of 500 pieces, making this a truly unique, celebratory offering that leaves little be desired sonically when considering the price.
