There are many considerations in assembling a balanced turntable system. The phono signal must start off balanced at the cartridge and must stay that way until reaching the balanced circuit in the phono stage. This means you’ve got to select a balanced turntable with an MC cartridge, a balanced phono preamp and a balanced cable that’ll allow for connection between the turntable output and the phono stage input. This is why we’ve assembled packages featuring our X1 B, X2 B and X8 Evolution turntables. You still get to select your favorite turntable & preamp finishes- we’ve just taken the guesswork out of the cable & cartridge part of the equation while offering you savings in a package price. Remember that even if the rest your system is unbalanced, balanced signal transmission to the phono stage has a huge impact on sound quality. The phono signal benefits most significantly of all signals being sent & received in your system.

The X2 B True Balanced package includes the following…

X2 B turnable in your choice of finish (gloss black, satin black, satin white, satin walnut), features the Mini XLR phono output

Phono Box S3 B phono preamp (black or silver), includes a balanced Mini XLR input to properly receive incoming signal

Connect it Phono S Mini XLR > Mini XLR balanced phono cable, transfers the balanced signal from turntable to phono preamp

Sumiko Blue Point No. 3 Low Output moving coil phono cartridge, the origin of the balanced signal

“The Pro-Ject Phono Box S3 B phono preamplifier and Pro-Ject X2 B turntable combination is an excellent platform to build an analog playback system with. They produce an engaging and lively sound quality from vinyl records and are built to last. And to make them even better, there is a solid upgrade path to get even better sound quality out of both of them.” – Gene Hopstetter, Secrets of Home Theater & Hi-Fi

“It is difficult to find a turntable that offers so much for this price… The X2 B is more than just another turntable with a sensational price/performance ratio from Pro-Ject – it belongs to the brand new ‘True Balanced Connection’ range.” – ON OFF (Spain), Premio 2023

“The sound improves significantly with the balanced cabling… The symmetrically driven Pro-Ject countered with spirited bass and even more finely articulated treble: powerful, stable and with a warm timbre.” – Bernhard Rietschel, Mint (Germany)

“There is -as mentioned- no competition… A turntable… and the perfect-fit phono amp. Together it becomes magical. The price is still humane, but the sonic gain is great beyond all expectations.” – Andreas Günther, LowBeats (Germany)

“For the fully balanced and thus interference-resistant design from the signal generation to the output from the phono stage, a multiple would have to be paid elsewhere. For just under two and a half grand, the proud buyer acquires a fascinating and emotionally engaging vinyl chain from the turntable market leader.” – Carston Bussler, Hi-Fi Statement (Germany)
